I will be traveling again soon - shocking I know since it is such a big part of my job. My next International trip is to Asia; Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand.
Myanmar was hit by a destructive cyclone last year. It is estimated that 140,000 people are either dead or missing from that disaster. A colleague from John's Hopkins sent photos from the field, the images gave me nightmares. It was just awful.
I read an article last week that said they estimate it will take four years to rebuild. I think that is an underestimation. My employer responded to the disaster and has been working there since. I will be traveling there soon to do some staff training on Result Based Management.
It may not be on the evening news or splashed on the print headlines, but the needs are still great. Please pray for the country of Myanmar, for the people who are still trying to rebuild their lives and have lost so much. Pray for the workers in the field who are doing what they can to help. Though this was not a place on my "wish list" of places to see in the world, I am grateful for the opportunity to support the field staff in their efforts to make that corner of the world a better place.
