more randomness

I was recently in Washington DC for work. Generally, when I have to go for work I use it as an opportunity to visit the William's family. I was spending the night at their house, it was almost like old times. We watched American Idol, which we used to do on William's family fun night. Kelsey came to me and asked if I would peel an organge for her...no biggie, but I wondered why she didn't do it for herself. She told me that she liked how I peeled the orange in one long strand. She keeps trying to do it, but can't seem to get it right. I didn't even realize this about myself. I don't know when I started doing it or why. It is interesting when others reveal things to us about ourselves that we aren't even aware. Marriage is full of opportunities to hold a mirror up to yourself and learn things you weren't aware.

Have you recently learned something about yourself through the eyes of another?

  1. I learned that I am a good listener! Which is strange because you would think you would know you were a good listener if you found yourself listening more than talking... I always thought I was a bad listener because I felt like I offered too much feedback but I've been told and it's been confirmed that I'm a good listener! Nice surprise!

Oh and I stumbled on your blog and must say that you have the most amazing job, EVER. How did you get a job like that???
