fun and games

Kenyon and I recently joined a team of Irish people on a work team in Lesotho, Africa. Our goal: minister to children. In the mornings we trekked 3 miles each day to paint and clean classrooms in the local school. In the afternoon we had planned crafts, dramas, and games to entertain the kids and share with them that they are special.
This little boy is one of the local shepherds. Many of the boys in this part of the world have sole responsibility for the family herd. They often spend nights alone in the wilderness watching the flocks and survive by eating corn meal, and the occasional mice or bird...if they can get it. These kids have so much responsibility, so much. It was great to provide these children an opportunity to play, to smile, to laugh.
Who knew a plastic spoon and pink Easter egg could be so valuable?
