Interesting International Facts

Did you know?

That in Ireland you have to date at least one year prior to getting married and if you want to get divorced you have to be legally seperated for at least five years. The goal is to encourage life-long marriages and discourage divorce. Divorce wasn't legal in Ireland until 1997.

  1. I've never heard about the having to date for a year thing here, but certainly the rest of it. Mind you we have a high enough separation rate here so marriages are still breaking down, just not ending in divorce
