On a recent trip to Ukraine my translator was Russian. We had many interesting conversations about the state of the world. He cracked me up because he is so westernized! His favorite meal is a McD's big mac with minute maid orange juice.
In the course of our conversation he said something profound. According to my translator, Russians love to make jokes about how from poverty they find ingenuity and how the West (that's North America and Western Europe) give up ingenuity as a result of their wealth. Ouch! Truth said in jest!
what do you think? is that true? have we lost creativity because we already have so many options available to us? have we lost our desire to innovate?
